How Not All of The Population of Australia Live on the Coast!
Although Australia is amongst one of the largest countries in the world, it has a comparatively low population density. This is due to the fact that the majority of the interior of the country is arid bush and dessert, forcing most of the population of over 22 million inhabitants to live on the narrow coastal strips in and around the major cities.
Although Sydney has by far the largest population of any city in Australia, the capital city of Australia is Canberra. In contrast to the majority of Australian cities, Canberra is located inland. With the status of being the country's capital, which the city has held since 1908, comes the influx of many business travellers form other parts of the country and the world. Therefore there are a large number of hotels to cater for the accommodation needs of these visitors.
As would be expected from this capital city, within the choice of Canberra hotels Australia has to offer are a number of four or five star properties, as well as the more basic motels and guest houses to cater for business and other travellers on a smaller budget.
Canberra and the surrounding Australian Capital Territory, which boasts a rising population, currently at over 350,000, attracts a large number of visitors who are drawn by a number of attractions. These attractions include the wide open spaces of the Namadgi National Park and the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex.
